Within our philosophy of the Universal Understanding of the God Consciousness, there are Universal Laws that govern the unfoldment of all consciousness. Among them, the Law of Transmission and Reception stands apart in a particular way. Most of the laws concern the oneness of the individual. The Law of Transmission and Reception always has to do with two. There has to be one that is sending out and one that is receiving.
This is already at work within you. The soul is constantly sending. It transmits a vibration into the universe, into the God Consciousness, and by that vibration it draws unto itself the experiences, the lessons, and the karmas it has come into this incarnation to meet. The transmission goes on whether you attend to it or not. You may not be aware that you are sending out a desire to study, or to change, or to become a certain kind of person, but the signal has gone out and the universe has answered.
Think of a radio. The station’s transmitter sends its signal out continuously, into open air, whether or not a single radio receiver is switched on. The signal persists even if no one is listening. Reception is another matter entirely. You have to switch the receiver on and find the station, and if the dial sits between stations, all that comes through is static. Your soul is the transmitter. Your mortal consciousness is the receiver.
But that is not the whole of it. The mortal consciousness transmits as well. A thought you dwell on goes out into the ether as surely as anything the soul sends. This is why you must be deliberate with your thoughts. The mortal side is not a passive instrument. It broadcasts constantly, and what it broadcasts is rarely examined. Each thought you put forth creates, and in that creating is transmission. One day you will meet that thought. So send forth the thoughts you would like to meet.
The universe answers. The answer arrives as opportunity. Something comes into your vibration: a person, a circumstance, a small unexpected turn in the day. Here is where many of us falter. Reception is the more important half of this law, because you transmit all the time and receive only some of the time. The opportunity arrives and you say, I cannot do that because, or that is not right for me, and you have set it aside without ever examining it. Later you wonder why nothing was ever sent to you. It came. You did not take it.
Consider a man who has not eaten in three days. He is hungry for a hamburger. He can taste it, and it is the only thing he wants. He has decided in advance what the answer to his hunger will look like. What is set before him is fish. Only a fool pushes the plate away. Yet this is what you often do with the answers you are given. You ask, and something arrives that does not match the picture you had formed of it, and you refuse it and go on hungry. Accept each thing for exactly what it is, and not for what you wished it would be.
When something is brought to you and you do not take hold of it, it will come again. It may come a third time. Repetition is the clue. When a situation, an attitude, a person keeps returning into your vibration, that is the moment to look at it directly rather than walk past it once more.
The obstacle to reception is usually the intellect. The brain measures what has arrived against everything it has been taught, decides the thing is impossible, and closes. It also manufactures. What comes to you from the ether arrives clean, and much of the weight a circumstance seems to carry was not in it when it arrived. It was added afterward, by a brain that did not understand what it was looking at. The intelligence of the soul does not work that way. It receives what has come and looks at it as it is, whether karma or accident or plain circumstance, and finds what can be done with it. Nothing enters your vibration that you are not capable of handling.
So embrace all things that come unto you. Receiving should not be the end of the law. Make something greater of what was given. Let it be glorified in your use of it. Then give it back into the Hands of Divine Providence, to be delivered to someone else. Wisdom must be expressed in order to be wisdom.
