“That which is, is ever present. That which is not is created within the present moment because of a misunderstanding of the is.” – Master Iefkomtar
This simple yet profound statement points us toward the eternal reality of God and the soul. When Master Iefkomtar says, “That which is, is ever present,” he is pointing to God as the source of all that is, and the soul as an individual expression of that God consciousness. That that is, is God. The soul. The individual soul in the collective thought. He is pointing to what is real, enduring, and spiritually true. That which is, is ever present because truth does not come and go; it is not created, nor does it depend on circumstances. Truth is truth, and that is all it needs to be. It simply is.
Then, “that which is not” refers to the illusions, misperceptions, and false ideas that arise when we misunderstand the eternal reality of God and the soul. As the quote states, what is not is “created within the present moment because of a misunderstanding of the is.” Whenever we fail to recognize the true nature of God, the soul, and existence itself, the mortal consciousness fills that void with distortion and assumption. These distortions become what Master Iefkomtar calls “that which is not,” illusions mistaken for substance when our awareness drifts from the truth of our inner being.
It is within this misunderstanding of “that which is” that much of our confusion is born. We struggle to discern what is real and what is not, to understand our purpose, to define true prosperity, to recognize true power, and to discover how peace is attained. Whether one is consciously on a spiritual path or not, these are questions we all encounter, often without clear answers. In their absence, we attempt to construct meaning through perception alone, and in doing so, we move further into the realm of “that which is not.”
When we live within “that which is not,” the universe seems very chaotic and we don’t see the order in our lives. Life seems very random and unpredictable, and we cannot see the possible outcome of our choices until after we make the choices. The less certain we are, the more disordered life appears, as though everything begins to lose its sense of direction and predictability. Without clarity, we fail to see the order and purpose that underlie all things, and instead perceive chaos and a lack of meaning.
To begin resolving this uncertainty, we must come into rapport with the soul. Rapport refers to a pure connection in which our awareness, thoughts, and intentions come into alignment with the higher, wiser aspect of our inner self. It is understanding how the inner spiritual universe operates.
As this rapport is developed, confusion slowly begins to give way to understanding. The chaotic nature of life diminishes, not because circumstances necessarily change, but because our perception of them becomes clearer and our perspective broadens to include a greater truth. We begin to recognize the underlying order of the universe and the intention of the soul, and through that recognition comes a sense of calmness, direction, and purpose. This harmony with the soul and with the universe brings us a knowing, an understanding that gives us sight, a realization that goes beyond faith.
As we come more fully into rapport with that which is, the illusion of that which is not gradually falls away, revealing a deeper clarity within our awareness. What once seemed uncertain gives way to understanding, and we begin to recognize how the choices we make shape the direction and outcome of our future. And what once appeared real is seen for the illusion that it was. In this way, self-realization is not something we acquire, but something we awaken to. It is the recognition of that which is, and the gradual dissolution of that which never truly was.
Grow in light and grow in peace.
