In the article The Law of Karma, we explored how individuals shape their own experiences through both the Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Karma. Individuals call karmas, or opportunities to demonstrate growth, to themselves, but they are not necessarily meant to be experienced alone. Additionally, karma is not an excuse to step back and watch another person struggle, telling ourselves, “It’s their lesson.” It should not evoke indifference to another. These experiences arise within a shared universe where our choices, actions, and compassion also play a vital role.
If you encounter someone who is hungry, their karma may have brought them to that moment, but your karma arrives in the same moment, asking you to feed them. When you see illness, your karma is to comfort, support, and help heal. If you witness injustice, your karma is to stand for fairness rather than turn away. Karma is the opportunity to show each other a better way: to reveal, through your actions, the higher spiritual conduct that uplifts all who are touched by it. In choosing compassion over indifference, service over apathy, you are expressing the better part of yourself and setting an example for all.
An individual evolves not only through what they meet, but through how others respond to the karma. Karma is not passive; it is the active state of the expression of the higher self. The universe places us in each other’s paths to awaken our sense of responsibility. In serving one another, we serve the higher self.
So as you look upon the physical world and witness the suffering or indignities others may endure, do not forget your own humanity. Hold steadfast to your compassion and extend your hand to uplift those around you. For in lifting another, you also lift yourself.
Grow in light and grow in peace.
